Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Theron ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a binding agreement between you and the operators of theronai.io ("we," "us," or "our").
2. Description of Service
Theron is an AI-powered mentoring platform designed for security operations center (SOC) analysts. The Service provides AI-assisted investigation coaching, training scenarios, escalation report drafting, false positive management, team collaboration tools, and related features intended to support analyst development and operational efficiency.
Theron is an educational and productivity tool. It is not a substitute for professional security judgment, certified training programs, or certified legal or compliance advice.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. The Service is intended for use by professionals in security operations roles or those training for such roles.
4. Accounts and Registration
4.1 Account Creation
You must register for an account to access most features of the Service. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information updated.
4.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You agree to notify us immediately at support@theronai.io if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized use of your account.
4.3 One Account Per User
You may not create multiple accounts for the same individual. Accounts are non-transferable.
5. Organizations and Teams
5.1 Organization Creation and Joining
Users may create or join organizations using invite codes. By joining an organization, you agree that certain data — including escalation reports, shift handoff notes, false positive library entries, query library entries, and SOP library entries — will be shared with other members of your organization.
5.2 Manager Role
Users assigned a Manager role within an organization have access to team analytics, organization management tools, and the ability to manage team members. Managers are responsible for appropriate use of those administrative capabilities.
5.3 Data Shared Within Organizations
You acknowledge that content you submit to shared organization resources (escalation reports, handoff notes, shared libraries) will be visible to other members of your organization. Do not submit sensitive personal data, confidential client information, or classified information to shared organization resources.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Submit real customer personally identifiable information (PII), protected health information (PHI), payment card data, or other sensitive regulated data to the Service
- Submit classified or government-restricted information to the Service
- Use the Service to develop competing products or services
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying AI models or proprietary systems
- Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service in a manner that imposes unreasonable load
- Attempt to bypass authentication, access controls, or security measures
- Use the Service to harass, harm, or impersonate others
- Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation
7. AI-Generated Content
7.1 Nature of AI Output
Theron uses artificial intelligence to generate responses, draft escalation reports, suggest investigation steps, and provide other outputs. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your specific situation.
7.2 Human Review Required
All AI-generated content — including escalation reports, false positive determinations, and investigation guidance — must be reviewed and verified by a qualified human analyst before being acted upon or submitted in any professional context. Theron is a mentoring and productivity aid, not an autonomous decision-making system.
7.3 No Liability for AI Output
We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated content. You assume full responsibility for how you use, apply, or act on any output from the Service.
8. Data and Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 Our IP
The Service, including its software, design, branding, AI systems, training content, and documentation, is owned by theronai.io and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our IP without express written permission.
9.2 Your Content
You retain ownership of content you submit to the Service ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and transmit that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
9.3 Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us the right to use that feedback without restriction or compensation to you.
10. Subscription and Payment
10.1 Free Access
The Service is currently available at no charge during an early access period. We reserve the right to introduce paid plans in the future.
10.2 Future Pricing
We will provide reasonable notice before transitioning any currently free features to paid plans. Continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new pricing terms.
10.3 Billing
When paid plans are introduced, billing terms, refund policies, and cancellation procedures will be specified at the time of purchase and incorporated into these Terms.
11. Termination
11.1 By You
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at support@theronai.io.
11.2 By Us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes as described in our Privacy Policy.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
THERON IS NOT A CERTIFIED SECURITY TRAINING PROGRAM, DOES NOT CONFER PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS, AND SHOULD NOT BE RELIED UPON AS THE SOLE SOURCE OF SECURITY KNOWLEDGE OR JUDGMENT.
13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless theronai.io and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
16. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
